Rapelling at Laiban Dam

I received an invitation from a friend to join YabagMC one weekend and try rappelling at Laiban Dam. Being an adrenaline junkie me, I accepted the invitation without second thought. It was my first rappelling experience... and I'll do it again.

What is rappelling?

Abseiling (German: abseilen, "to rope down"), rappelling in American English, is the controlled descent down a rope; climbers use this technique when a cliff or slope is too steep and/or dangerous to descend without protection. Abseiling is used chiefly in British English, as well as in Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Budget

For this one, I only spent Php800.00 - all in! Yabag Mountaineering Club; a group of mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts usually do rappelling and it’s open for everybody.

Location

From Edsa Shaw the group rented a jeepney to Tanay Rizal. It was almost a 3-hour trip. At the location the only water source is raindrops running though a small plastic tube, no washrooms nor mobile network signal available. There’s also no electricity. Make sure to bring repellant for mosquitoes and insects.
