Butterfly Sanctuary in Bohol

Butterfly Conservation Center

I’m really not interested in butterflies. I think I’ve learned enough about them in my academe life. Besides they are not very unusual specie either. But since we will pass by the butterfly sanctuary on our way to Carmen to see the famous Chocolate Hills we decided to drop by; and I am so glad that we did!

Simply Butterflies Conservation Center is one of several butterfly sanctuaries in Bohol.  It is located in Bilar which is 35-40 minutes away from Tagbilaran City. The center is just 15 minutes away from Loboc River and around 5 minutes away from the Man-Made forest.

This center aims to preserve and protects the natural habitat of butterflies. For a minimal fee of Php30.00 tour guides amazed me with a lot of information that I never heard of! I’ve learned that:

a.)    Butterflies make love for like 6 hours! And it’s always the female butterfly on top.
b.)    Mariposa is not a butterfly but a giant moth
c.)    Butterfly emerge from pupa; moth from cocoon
d.)    Female butterflies only have one partner in her lifetime.

Discover something for yourself too! I recommend this as one of the places to go to.
